The happy couple

Aaron is an awesome husband. I learn that more and more every day.

He has gotten to be quite the romantic in the past few years. He brings me roses home every few weeks, orders me little surprises online, lights candles... Hmm... do you think he might be trying to seduce me??

What's so super cool that I had to post about him today though, is that he's been planning an anniversary getaway for us next weekend, all by himself. Not only that, it's a surprise for me as to where we are going and what we're doing when we get there. I'm usually pretty good at getting information out of him (and ruining surprises in the process), but this time he absolutely won't budge! For the first time in our relationship, I really have no idea what's going on! Not even a tiny clue. He tells me he has the entire weekend planned out too. But every time I try to finagle an answer out of him, he just says, "Nope!" Dangit! Who knew he was going to get so good at this?

Wednesday's What We Know

We know a lot, Mr. VD and I. Aaron is even known as the "book of knowledge" among some of his friends, because he tends to know a lot of random factoids about a lot of random things. But even we don't know everything (although I think we're getting close). Here's a sampling of things we only recently learned:

1. Just last week I found out that brussels sprouts grow like this:

2. The wind can knock down a fence - twice.

3. Some people really are open to constructive criticism. (But you have to give it without judgment.)

4. When a cat is on a diet, said cat will eat more hastily than usual at feeding time. Then promptly throw up on the nearest rug. In a house full of hard floors.

Ahh life. It's full of lessons huh? Some more fun than others, and some I'll have to share another time. :)

Happy Hump Day!

Good. Friday.

Today is Friday (Good Friday to be precise), and THANK GOD for that. Has anyone else been experiencing the longest week of their lives? No? Well I have.

Anyway, not a whole heckuva lot going on today, so I thought I'd share this humorous little tidbit:

Haha. Sorry, I just think the shocked/angry look on the face of the chicken reading the Bible is awesome.

I hope everyone has a lovely Easter! Personally, we'll be heading to the elder VD's for brunch, followed by a Lackerdas shindig of some sort. I imagine it will prove to be the most fun Easter we've had since last Easter! ;)

Oh yes, and I am also supposed to mention KATHERINE in this post. So there it is. You're welcome. (Everyone who is not Katherine, don't ask, it's not interesting.) (Katherine, if you're reading this - I was kidding! It's totally interesting! Everything about you is!)

Opening Day!

It's officially baseball season and your Los Angeles Dodgers have officially won their first game of 2009!

The VD's have also officially bought their first set of Dodger tickets for the season. We'll be heading out to our Spring - Autumn Mecca in two weeks! Go Dodgers!!!

Tonight we celebrated game one of their World Series run by Q-ing up some hot dogs, whipping up some bean dip and enjoying an ice cold Lachey. Can't think of anything better than that! We're super excited about the new season, and are planning to incorporate a couple games into our September road trip to Iowa.

Even Atticus is excited about the 2009 baseball season and can't keep from running around the house out of sheer exuberance. Yeah buddy, we feel exactly the same way.

Welcome

Hello there, and thanks for checking out our blog!

There are many wonderful and exciting new things going on in our lives right now, and you'll want to keep up!

Well, okay, let's be honest - there are SOME wonderful and exciting things... or rather, some things that are pretty cool... or maybe just some mildly interesting things mixed in with some completely boring stuff that you probably won't give a crap about at all... But you should still check in once in a while, just in case something SUPER EXCITING does happen! You don't want to be out of the loop, after all!

I mean, think about it, how would you feel if EVERYONE else knew about that one super cool, fantastic thing that finally happened to the VD's, and everyone was talking about it, say at a party or something where you were a guest, and you were standing with a group of people who were all talking about that really cool thing, but they weren't giving you any details because everyone else already knew, and you just stood there, totally confused and feeling a little bit left out... And all you had to do was check our blog from time to time and you'd be just as savvy as everyone else at the party.

At any rate, even if we have nothing TERRIBLY fascinating to tell you about, we'll always try to make it sound interesting, so you won't feel like you're being gypped. How's that for a deal?

Enjoy :)
